About ME
My name is Matt Crognale and I take pictures. Sometimes.
The photography bug first hit me in college while pursuing a degree in public relations. Life happened and I put the camera down for nearly 20 years.
By the time I picked up a camera again the world had gone digital but the magic was still there. The technology had changed but the core techniques remained the same. I was hooked again.
I've been rebuilding my skill set over the past few years and finally feel comfortable showcasing my work. I'm a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based photographer that enjoys seeing life through the lens. I invite you to come along with me as I explore what I can pull out of the camera.
I find people fascinating. Doubly so when seen through the camera eye. My goal is to capture the real image of a person, not the mask that they wear. I want to see the true self, not the facade. The camera can act as a brick wall or an open window. I strive to make it a window into the life of my subjects, even if it's for a single split second.
